SwapU4it is an innovative concept that exploits a niche in the digital market by providing an online platform where Users can display items they not longer need and swap for items they want.
SwapU4it is open to all ages and is designed to overcome the problems many Users face with online auction sites including inflated prices, counterfeit goods, online disputes and punitive payment procedures.
SwapU4it encourages Users to build local communities of known people and have fun trading items in a safe and secure environment.
The Challenge
The project called for a wide range of functionality with a comprehensive account management system similar in design and scope to the market leading online auction site.
The development program would require a high degree of flexibility and it was evident from the start that an off-the-shelf commerce solution would not be able to cope with the wide-ranging features and management controls that were planned.
What We Did
Producing a detailed Functional Specification enabled both client and agency to agree on the scope of the work required before moving towards a rapid prototype.
The prototype enabled us to test various navigation routes without the need to accrue large amounts of programming time so the most effective User experience could be established at an acceptable cost.
Bespoke graphic design gives the site a very individual look and feel, and this was translated successfully into skilfully produced CSS Web pages.
The whole experience for front and back-end Users is driven from a bespoke database developed to avoid restricting functionality in any area and to provide easy scalability for future development.
